Hanuman Statue



It is a big statue god in the form of monkey, sitting in a tall stone. This statue is worship as a Hunuman . It is worshipped every Tuesday. It was constructed by Pratap Mallain 1672 A.D.

            Because of this statue the basasntapur durbar is also known as Hanuman Dhoka Palace. This palace is now used as museum.  In this museum a lots of ancient king things are  kept and public can enter  to see those things . This Hanuman Dhoka Museum had added one more attraction for the tourist to visit basantapur Durbar square. From where they can know about the history of our country.

Talaju Temple



            It lies inside the Basantapur Durbar. Telaju temple waas built by King Mahendra Malla in 1564. The temple stand 36.6 meter high resting on a twelve stage of big stairs. In ancient time house cannot be build bigger than this.


            This temple is open only once in a year at dashian festival. Lots of people from around the cities comes to worship in that day. It is one of the beautiful temple in basnatapur durbar square. The temple is decorated with fine wood carving which has made one more things to attract the tourist in this area.

Mahendreswor temple



 From Basatapur if we walk around 4 to 5 minute in the north  there is Mahendreswor Temple. It is also known as Small Pashupatinath Temple. In this temple there is the statue of lord Shiva. Inside the temple there is Linga and small Bull Nandi in front.
            It is the famous temple of the Kathmandu valley. Lots of people comes to worship this temple at Saturday and Monday .It has also made the tourist to  visit the Basantapur Durbar Square..

Kal Bhairab



 Behind Basantapur durbar there is Hanuman Dhoka. There is on big statue called Kal Bhairab. It represent Deity Shiva in his destructive look.This is one one the biggest statue of bhairab.

 At ancient time it was used by the government as a place for people to swear the truth.This Kal Bharab is one of the attraction for the tourist to visit Basantapur. Kal Bhairab is worshipped at Saturday and lots of people from this area comes to worship on each and every special occasion.

Kumari Ghar


Kumari Ghar is in the basanatapur. It is the house of living goddess Kumari. It is of three storeys with the decorative wood carving. In third floor there is the big and beautiful windows of fine carving wood . From where living goddess Kumari use to look outside .

            In dashain lots of people use to go in Kumari ghar for to put Tika from living goddess Kumari and to get bless from her .

Kasthamandap



To describe the one for the biggest temple of basantapur we can name it as Kasthamandap. It is in Maru near Basantapur. This huge temple was belived to be built by a single tree. It is of three storeys.Ground floor is open publicly.
            In Kasthamandap there is statue of god Gorakhnath and in each four corner there is a statue of ganesh which was constructed in 12th  century and renovated many times and recently.

Basantapur is not only reach in temples and old heritage but there is lots of culture and traditions and festivals to describe. People are celebrating festivals , culture  and traditions from centuries to centuries.
            The major festivals of basantapur are Indrajatra, Dashain, gaai jatra, Machchindra nath jatra etc.These are the occasion when the people from all over the city gather together at basantapur to save their old tradition and culture and to enjoy the featival.
